2020 Operating Budget
The 2020 Operating Budget was approved on April 27, 2020. Municipalities are required to run balanced budgets through the Municipal Government Act. The overall operating budget for 2020 amounted to $13,384,916, with $4,849,289 to be covered through General Municipal Taxes, $1,277,837 for tax requisitions, and $3,138,175 from the sale of goods and services.
The Operating Budget explained
The Town of High Level’s Operating Budget is approved annually by Council. It includes revenue, recoveries, and expenditures related to ongoing operations. Revenues and recoveries can include property taxes, sales of goods and services, licences, permits, and fines; franchise fees and dividends; business taxes, and grants and subsidies. Expenditures can include salaries, wages, and benefits; day-to-day program, maintenance, and service costs; administrative costs, such as insurance; fuel, utilities, and capital financing costs.
