Notice to local residents regarding 2020 property tax due date

High Level Logo

In response to Provincial Government requirements and recommendations, the Town of High Level is deferring all residential and non-residential property taxes for one month.

As a result of this decision, the payment due date for all property tax bills - including municipal taxes, education requisitions, lodge requisitions, and designated industrial property requisitions - has been deferred to July 31, 2020.

As part of its COVID-19 relief efforts, the Provincial Government Alberta is requiring municipalities to choose one of the following options for non-residential property taxes:

  • Defer the education component of non-residential property taxes for a six-month period (April 1 to September 30); or
  • Provide a deferral of all non-residential property taxes that provides an equivalent benefit.

In this case, the Town of High Level has made the decision to go with the second option and to extend the deferral to residential property taxes.

The Provincial Government’s official explanation regarding the combined approach can be found at
