With the easing of restrictions outdoors to groups of 50 people, the High Level Fire Department resumed outdoor training on May 20, 2020. The HLFD set up wildland fire pumps at the Amber Heights Retention Pond and reviewed operations, set up, and wildland nozzle use. Fourteen firefighters attended the first training session.
The HLFD has placed a strict regiment of sanitization for all HLFD units as well as the fire station after each training session. Following training, members sanitized fire trucks, door handles, and bathrooms in the station. They must also adhere to requirements for health standards before being able to attend training. This will allow firefighters to start their summer training season to ensure their skills are kept up to date.
The High Level Fire Department is recruiting! There are currently eight positions available on the department. For information on how to join, contact Chief Rodney Schmidt at 780-821-4016.
